4* HOTEL POD BRÁNOU stands on the location of the first inn in Bardejov, which was built over 120 years ago.
The entrance to the town is closed on the western side by the so-called "old", or western gate (Wallenthor). Although very little remains of the gate and its barbican, a relatively rich documentation was saved. The gate was removed after a fire in 1878. It was a rectangular, three-storey tower fitted with firing holes and on the outside with breastwork. Westwards from the gate led a road over a moat, lined with walls, which linked it to the round Barbican. The outer walls of the barbican were also provided with firing holes. The first inn, “Na bráne” was found at the site of the former entrance to the barbican with a launching bridge. A title was written above the entrance to the barbican :Anno Domini 1647. In 1822 they fixed the road directly to the axis of the western side.
After a reconstruction, we have opened a restaurant for you in 2010 and a hotel in 2015.
